Happy #WorldRainforestDay! It's no wonder that when we think of rainforests, we first think of the Amazon. Being the largest tropical rainforest on Earth, its size even dwarfs world powers.

Fact: The Amazon Rainforest is about 3 times larger than the Congo Basin and 28 times larger than the UK! At 6.7 million square kilometers and spanning 8 countries, the rainforest easily makes the crown jewel of South America. Its size is hard to fathom, but the amount of tree cover it has lost is just as impressive (in the worst way possible). Estimates show that about 17% of the Amazon rainforest has been lost already, an area the size of France. Percentages are one thing, but being compared to an entire country really puts this impact into perspective.
