A second Trump term could slow the shift from fossil fuels as climate threats grow

As the US approaches another presidential election, concerns arise over the potential climate impact of a second Trump term. During his campaign, former President Donald Trump continues to downplay climate science, promising to roll back environmental regulations and boost fossil fuel production. His stance includes opposition to wind turbines and electric vehicles, which are key technologies for reducing climate pollution and mitigating extreme heat.
Trump's administration previously withdrew from the Paris Agreement, eased regulations on power plant emissions, and promoted oil and gas development. His possible return to office, supported by initiatives like Project 2025, could dismantle federal programs addressing climate change and repeal Biden's climate policies.
