Goal of Fossil-Free Business Travel Achieved

In 2017, Kalmar County Museum adopted the Fossil-Free Sweden transport challenge. The goal was to stop using fossil-fueled cars for business by 2022 at the latest. That goal has now been achieved.

"Sustainability issues are important to us. Therefore, I am very happy to confirm that we have reached an important goal and have actively contributed to making a fossil-free Sweden possible," says Ă–rjan Molander, museum director at Kalmar County Museum.

Kalmar County Museum's Transportation Transition
Kalmar County Museum has now reduced to nearly 100 percent fossil-free and has implemented the following over a ten-year period:

replaced all fossil-fueled owned vehicles with biogas or HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil)
initiated and contributed to the development of the dELbilspoolen (electric car pool), which offers the opportunity for fossil-free travel both in service and privately
written a new rental car agreement for fossil-free rental cars during temporary peaks
adopted an environmental policy for business travel.
Challenges Ahead
The goal of a fossil fuel-free operation has been achieved, but the museum wants more. The goal is for the entire supply chain to be free from fossil fuels.

"We will now continue our own work and continue to actively work to include all our suppliers in the transition to fossil-free transportation," says Ă–rjan Molander.
