Greenwashing: Shell's actual spending on renewables is just a fraction of what it claims
As part of their greenwashing efforts, Shell publicly declares investing 12% of its capital into "wind, solar, electric vehicle charging, hydrogen, and more". Non-profit organization Global Witness went digging and found out that Shell is actually investing most of that money into the "and more" category, with actually only 1.5% of Shell's capital being invested in Wind and Solar, and the vast majority of the other 10.5% reported going into the extraction and marketing of natural gas.
Global Witness is now calling for US regulartors to fine Shell for misleading declarations.

Shell and other oil companies have well mastered the art of greenwashing since it's in plain black and white that their main business is oil.Quite shameful.
