The UK Court of Appeal has granted a landmark appeal in the claim of two Nigerian communities whose environment has been devastated by oil pollution, allegedly caused by Shell.
A landmark case allowing the more than 13,000 members of the Bille and Ogale communities to bring claims in UK court.
The claims, which were started nearly 10 years ago, should now finally move forward to a full trial with disclosure of important Shell documents.
The communities, supported by Dan Leader and the team at Leigh Day solicitors have all worked tirelessly to reach this point.
Big Climate love to the Appeal Court, the Ogale and Bille communities, Leigh Day and everyone who has supported and campaigned for justice.

The best news ever. This is a pace setter which will set the ground for other cases. These companies have really put the world in a mess. I empathize with these communities who had been left hopeless for quite long.

Shell must be brought to book and be prosecuted to ensure they take responsibility for their actions. Happy to see the courts stand for climate justice.
