"Jeans are one of the most polluting items in fashion. Using 7.000 litres of water and nasty chemicals. With over 200.000 million jeans being sold yearly, the impact of recycling jeans and using organic cotton can be huge. In 2012 Bert van Son founded MUD Jeans to do things differently. Together with his team, Bert transformed MUD Jeans into a good circular fashion company, introducing the pioneering Lease a jeans model in 2013 and consistently putting the circular economy principles into practice. They use recycled denim to avoid waste and reduce water and CO2 use. Their jeans contain 40% recycled denim and aim to launch the first jeans made from 100% post-consumer recycled denim. They use printed labels instead of leather patches and are Peta Vegan approved. One can also lease their jeans for €9,95 per month while they stay the owners of the raw material and get them back at the end of life." Dear Christina, Thank you for your post! It is great to see that people are interested in sustainable denim alternatives. Jeans are one of the most polluting items in fashion and we aim to change that. Our Road to 100 project (producing the first jeans made from 100% post-consumer recycled cotton) is well underway and we will have the first sample ready soon! For anyone interested in learning more about sustainable fashion & denim - we have set up a free sustainable fashion course: https://mudjeans.eu/pages/sustainable-fashion-certificate. We will officially launch next month but you are already able to complete the course now. Looking forward to hearing more from you, Lea - CSR and Sustainable Communications Officer at MUD Jeans
