“No ice, no life.”

Lewis Pugh is an endurance swimmer, a maritime lawyer, and the UN Patron of the Oceans. Right now he is attempting at taking on the world's coldest swim in Ilulissat in west coast of Greenland. The aim of this swim is to draw attention to the rapid melting of glaciers as a result of the Climate Crisis. He is scheduled to speak at COP26 Conference in Glasgow this year where he will address the world leaders. He said: “This swim will be the most challenging of my career. The cold-water adaptation and training alone is gruelling and extremely intense on the body. “But there is a reason I’m doing this. We are an ice-dependent species. Ice keeps our planet cool enough for us to live. “The polar regions and high-altitude glaciers are melting, and our collective survival is on the line. “No ice, no life.” You can watch the video in this tweet https://twitter.com/LewisPugh/status/1431164288467623943 (which is different from the video embedded in this post) where he is answering questions from the swim location after finishing the day's swim. I hope that his effort & the pain he is enduring to increase awareness may open the eyes of world leaders and they may start acting fast on climate actions to tackle climate crisis! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ncGM44dg4Q Read: https://www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/national/19504782.lewis-pugh-takes-most-challenging-swim-highlight-climate-crisis/
