Investing in leading solar microgrid developer and SET100 member, Standard Microgrid
Exciting SET100 News: Longlisted in the 2021 SET100 list, Standard Microgrid, a leading #solar microgrid developer, recently secured an equity investment from EDF, a global leader in low-carbon energy. š„
This move cements Standard Microgridās leadership position in off-grid electrification as it marks the EDP Groupās very first investment in a #microgrid operator. The funding will help the scale-up expand its operations in Zambia and achieve its mission to serve clean, low-carbon reliable power to more than 130,000 Zambians from underserved communities that lack access to electricity. š
ā”ļø Whatās unique about Standard Microgrid?
The scale-up has been one of the pioneers of Africaās micro-grid sector, using an innovative āenergy-as-a-serviceā model to provide clean 24/7 power to rural customers, without requiring diesel back-up or the use of fossil fuels. The company currently serves power to more than 7,000 in Zambia across 11 microgrids and is busy scaling a 150-microgrid portfolio.
