Norway is set to allow dumping of mining waste in its Fjords after winning a case against environmental campaigners who tried to stop this action. This comes after a long dispute over 15years between Nordic mining and the environmental campaigners, and now after winning the case they'll be allowed to dispose 170 tonnes of mining waste in Førde fjord. It is sad that the government of Norway ignored a warning from Norwegian instute of Marine Research who says this is harmful to Marine life and it will put biodiversity at risk. Norway will not only harm marine life but also risk loosing their iconic feature considering that Norway has the longest, narrowest, deepest and most beautiful fjords in the World. @ann_nyambura_542 they need to reconsider their decisions

Why would u agree to dumping nasty fuels within this beautiful place

This is when history of human ignorance repeats itself.

Sad! Mining companies must stop using oceans, rivers, and lakes as dumping grounds for their toxic wastes.

@rashid_kamau This practices are harmful and hazardous and must be stopped , Norway should know better.

t's disheartening to learn that Norway is moving forward with allowing the dumping of mining waste in its pristine fjords, especially after a lengthy 15-year dispute with environmental campaigners. Winning the case against warnings from the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research, predicting harm to marine life and biodiversity, raises concerns about the government's priorities. The decision not only poses a threat to the unique and iconic features of Norway's fjords but also contradicts the global efforts to protect marine ecosystems. It's crucial for governments to prioritize environmental conservation over short-term gains and consider the long-term impact on the planet in the fight against climate change
•
•
46 w
@rukia_ahmed_abdi I agree, the government of Norway must make the right decisions no matter what it cost for the sake of the future.
•
46 w
It's crucial to hold governments accountable for prioritizing environmental protection and sustainable practices.
•
•
46 w
@george_kariuki True, the government of Norway must play its role in protecting the masses from adverse climate change effects.
•
•
46 w
This decision will have negative environmental impacts on Norway's beautiful fjords. This should stop.
•
•
46 w
@walter_lungayi Norway must reconsider this decision by all means possible. The environmentalist must continue with the same zeal to fight for what is right.
•
•
46 w
@walter_lungayi They should atleast consider peoples health.
•
•
46 w
This jeopardizes the environment, contradicting the global call for sustainability.
•
•
46 w
@princess_nel_268 the judiciary and the Norway authorities must sought to make this right by recalling this harmful decision to the environment.
•
•
46 w
oohh no this is bad news... this shows how unreasonable the government and judiciary of Norway are when it comes to matters of sustainability and environmental conservation... they should rethink this decision
•
•
46 w
@edwin_wangombe Hopefully, there will be a reconsideration, prioritizing the long-term health of our ecosystems over immediate interests.
•
•
46 w
@princess_nel_268 I agree, when the matter is appealed the judiciary must prove that they can make better decisions to protect the environment and create a better precedence.
•
•
46 w
@edwin_wangombe The backwardness just shows lack of seriousness
•
46 w
This is such a reckless decision
•
•
46 w
@johnte_ndeto I second... such a level of recklessness coming from the government is saddening
•
•

@johnte_ndeto Imagine what will become of our environment.

@johnte_ndeto one that is going to hurt the acquatic life massively.

•

@rotich_kim I agree... the judiciary should have done better ... this is Ecocide, to say the least
•
•
46 w
@edwin_wangombe I agree, I hope when the case is appealed the courts will judge right
•
46 w
How an the government approve such actions .. This is very wrong
•
•
46 w
@chris_ngatia The government just displayed its inability to protect nature
•
•
46 w
@chris_ngatia It's a tragedy, first they make the environment look so ugly because of unkempt mining sites and to top it all they are permitted to litter around.
•
•
46 w
@chris_ngatia it is sad how the authorities are ignorant of the fact that climate change is a global disaster.
•
46 w
It's heartbreaking to see Norway allowing such actions knowing very well the damage caused will be irreversible
•
•
46 w
@elizbeth_gathigia, unfortunately, the courts went against the suggestions of environmentalists who know the damage this will bring because they were prioritizing the profits instead of nature conservation
•
•
46 w
@edwin_wangombe the courts must consider environmental justice and create a precedence that it can guard the goodness of our environment.
•
•
45 w
@elizbeth_gathigia They seem to care less.
