Fall asleep in Stockholm, wake up in Berlin! The direct overnight train between Stockholm and Berlin is back. Before the 1990's it was possible to join the two capitals in one train ride. With the rise of air travel, this train line and most of the other overnight trains lines in Europe were discontinued. But the company Snälltåget decided to bring it back to life. The journey includes other stops namely, Malmö, Lund, Copenhagen or Hamburg. The first train departed from Stockholm at 16:20 yesterday to reach its final destination, Berlin Monday, 08:52. The overnight trains in Europe are having a renaissance, with projects of other train lines connecting Rome, Barcelona, Paris France, Spain and even Edinburgh. (The French company Midnight Trains is working on these). It seems that the future of travel in Europe is the train and I personally love it!
