I work for a software company.
What actions can we take to become more sustainable / climate friendly?
Any ideas and recommendations are welcomed!!
We want to set ambitious goals but it's been difficult to map our "sit all day in front of a laptop" activities to real climate impact.

Hey Mariana,
its great that you consider your job as possibility to take climate action!
I'm also working in the branche and make a lot of research regarding how companies can take action, because I think that the economy can have a huge impact.
The base for climate action would be to get an overview about the emissions your companys creating. The second and bigger part will be to reduce them time after time and there are many different possibilites to do that.
In a software company one of the biggest points normally is the energy part, not only regarding light, heating and the air conditioners but also the use of your computers and how sustainable the software is created. The last point shouldnt be underestimated as we are using our electronic devices more and more and especially when software is often used from many people it can have a big impact to consider sustainable software design and development to save energy. A very interesting field! :)
Another big part normally are the business- jouneys: Visiting the customers, going to work vs. To reduce this part a mobility budget or actions to get more people to use the bike/tram if possible are great.
In my free-time I created an inspirational presentation within a team for teams with a lot of positive examples from other companies and ideas for the different action fields of a company and the most important steps how to structure the base for an effective start regarding sustainability action. Could be a nice input for you and your team. If you want, we could have a call about that topic. Would be a pleasure for me :)
