More than 1.5 million children under the age of 5 die around the world each year due to two diseases (diarrheal diseases and respiratory tract infection) which can been prevented by hand washing.
Sapocycle makes 'socially responsible soaps'. The non-profit collects discarded soaps from hotels which often goes unnoticed, reprocesses them (they make a point to provide employment to people with disabilities who have a hard time securing a job) and distributes them to families in need.
So far, they have collected almost 24,000 kgs of soaps, redistributed 148,000 soaps and mitigated 49,267 kgs of Co2 from the atmosphere while improving the living conditions of many families.
