Women are in the frontline in the battle to protect World forests.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/aug/26/world-forests-women-akbelen-turkey-india-brazil-developers meaning “We can do it”. This is an appreciation article to Elif Shafak , a novelist and a writer in Turkey for a great highlight on how women have been in the frontline to fight for our forests around the globe. This come in a time when climate crises is on the rise and still climate deniers are still derailing climate action activities with the world leaders watching without action. This is informed by how women fought against world fires effects in Akbelen in Turkey by protecting this forest by all means. In her article in The Guardian she did highlights women around the globe doing an exemplary job to save world forests. In India for instance in 1730s ,Amrita Devi can be remembered for fighting against destruction of khejri trees. She further add that , "In Indonesia, in North Sumatra, indigenous and rural women have been the most vocal opponents against the wrecking of habitats by mining companies and plantations for pulp and paper. And the Indonesian campaigner Aleta Baun – Mama Aleta as she is known to many – has stood in the way of big business, organising protests with 150 other women. In my home country Kenya, Professor Wangari Maathai is a legend who's history on protecting Kenya's forest is indeletable. It's her sheer hard work and diligence that climate action is not a new topic in Kenya and East Africa. It's even better that her daughter Wanjira Maathai has taken the same route. Viva! To all women.
