Colombia confirms its position as a climate leader by joining the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance

Colombia is the latest member of the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance (BOGA). 👏 BOGA, the international alliance dedicated to phasing out oil and gas production, welcomes the South American country alongside Denmark and Costa Rica, forging a united front against fossil fuels.

"Colombia joining BOGA is great news and embodies the government’s commitment to transform the country into a “Global Power of Life.” The decision aligns with the resistance movements against the predatory fossil fuel industry, which have helped bring the government of Gustavo Petro to power," said Tatiana Roa, member of the Consejo Permanente para la Transición Energética Justa.
Remember that Colombia's president Gustavo Petro announced a halt on fossil fuel exploitation at Davos this year:

This move opens avenues for accessing vital technical and financial resources to reduce fossil fuel dependency. It positions Colombia as a leader in planning a fossil-free economic model, setting an example for nations less dependent on fossil fuel revenues but hesitant to transition away from them.
As global economic shifts foresee reduced demand for fossil fuels, Colombia's proactive transition aims to mitigate socio-environmental and climate impacts while safeguarding its economy. By joining BOGA, Colombia strengthens its energy transition policies and champions a sustainable world free from fossil fuels. Vamos Colombia! 💪
