I will be speaking at Nature in the Race to Zero on Earth Day, April 2022.
Like all other speakers at the event, I have been asked to formulate a reply to the following question:
“Decarbonizing our economies is a huge - and hugely important - challenge, deeply affecting all parts of our societies. What is the significance of mankind’s relationship with nature and the role of nature-based solutions in this transformation?”
Here is my reply:
Mankind’s relationship with nature is what the transformation is about, in technical terms. The view of nature as merely a source of resources that can be extracted without any consequences may for a short time have given us great economic wealth, but the same way of acting now risks leading to catastrophe. We need to reconnect with the biosphere and see mankind as deeply intertwined with nature, and reconstruct our societies in that manner.

Very true, we can't only see nature as a source of resources to exploit!
And together we've planted over 150,000 trees. One tree is planted for every climate review written to an organization that is Open for Climate Dialogue™.
How does this work?
