Lundin Energy's "carbon neutral" oil is pure greenwashing to continue business as usual

I am amazed at how even though the world is literally burning, some companies continue with business as usual. On Tuesday (yes, one day after the new IPCC report) Swedish oil and gas giant Lundin Energy celebrated the first barrels of the new Rolvsnes field in the Norwegian North Sea. The resource estimate for the Rolvsnes field is between 14 and 78 million barrels of oil equivalent. Earlier in June, the company had also announced two new licenses in the Southern Barents Sea and is already drilling the Arctic for exploration with the support of Swedish banks. (https://www.sydsvenskan.se/2021-04-28/storbankerna-maste-tvatta-byken-i-klimatfragan) What's even more interesting is how Lundin Energy is pretending to produce "carbon neutral" oil with its Johan Sverdrup production platform, the second biggest in Norway. Since June all the production is certified as carbon neutrally produced by Intertek Group under their CarbonZero standard. All their oil production will be "carbon neutral" by 2025. 🤡 Changing your name from Lundin Oil to Lundin Energy, electrifying oil production and carbon offsetting are not the answer to fossil fuels extraction, it's just a good excuse to continue and increase gas and oil exploitation. The picture is from an Extinction Rebellion action yesterday in Stockholm to protest against greenwashing by Lundin Energy. Both Sweden and Norway could expand there curently non-carbon energy sources. And usage of it for non-fossil base production materials and fuels.

In several European countries you'd get fined for such campaigns. At least in France and Italy. I think it's time to adapt such legislation on a broader scale.

It makes me sick to see how Lundin is desperately trying to portray itself as green, while it continues to make billions of dollars by being the dirty mass-polluter it always has been.
