Last Tuesday it was time for another planting day! 🌳 This time it was the turn of the outskirts of Enschede. Together with our project partner Stichting Landschap Overijssel and our corporate forestry partners, we have planted trees in the Boekelo area.
At this location we have extended the wood canals in order to restore the characteristic landscape of Twente. A wood girth forms a strip of trees and shrubs and separates meadows and fields. It is a suitable habitat for many species of animals and thus serves as a source of biodiversity! 🦋 We also planted trees along a stream to create extra shadow spots.
Thanks to the hard work, a total of 1000 trees went into the ground. Think of species such as buckthorn, hornbeam, winter lime, mountain ash and hazel.
