Climate love

For saving lives. Volvo group Engineer developed the three point seatbelt and let competitors use their design free.

Dear Volvo, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your contribution to road safety with the invention of the three-point seatbelt and for opening up the patent for the greater good. Your decision to prioritize safety over profit has saved countless lives, and for that, I am forever thankful. Your pioneering spirit and commitment to innovation have not only impacted the automotive industry but have also influenced the way we think about safety in our daily lives. Your invention has become a universal symbol of safety, reminding us of the importance of buckling up and taking responsibility for ourselves and our passengers. As I sit here, thinking about the significance of your invention, I am reminded of the love Read more about this invention here. https://www.forbes.com/sites/douglasbell/2019/08/13/60-years-of-seatbelts-volvos-great-gift-to-the-world/?sh=59ddbcdd22bc

Okay, this is a good thing, but this is not climate-related or new. The 3-point seatbelt was invented in 1959

@sarah_chabane I beg to differ, it is climate related. Our main focus is to save the planet and hence save lives, if there's an invention that saves lives and is in line with climate, (ie; Volvo is involved in climate change matters by virtue of them being producers of vehicles hence they have a direct effect on the climate) we ought to recognize those efforts regardless of whether they directly or indirectly impacted the climate . Also, I'm quite aware of the time of the invention but that does not mean their efforts cannot be lauded. I'm sure you're aware of posthumous Nobel laureates. Time is just but an illusion.

@munene_mugambi 3-point seatbelts and cars won't save the planet 🤷‍♀️ Volvo Cars and Volvo Group are doing many great things with electrification for example but this invention in particular has nothing to do with fighting the climate crisis

@sarah_chabane It could be argued that three point seatbelts may have saved the life of someone who will save the planet. Bottom line is they made thier cars safer by this Innovation and no matter how you look at it, it's a good thing that paved way for more innovations including those that directly impact the climate.
