Demanding taxpayer's money to increase flights, despite low demand

Gunnar Lenman, CEO of Scandinavian Mountains Airport, is angry.
He is angry because people are making the wrong choices.
For some stupid reason, people don’t want to fly as much as he hoped for when he inaugurated the Scandinavian Mountains Airport in the Sälen ski region a few years ago.
Last year he had hoped for 140,000 passengers. But only 17,000 decided to travel by air to Sälen's ski resorts. Instead they kept using boring means of transportation like trains, electric cars and buses, to get to the slopes.
The airport – in part paid for by Swedish taxpayers – is bleeding money. The combined net loss for the past three years amounts to €6 million.
Gunnar Lenman thinks this is unfair. So now he is asking the Swedish government and The Swedish Transport Administration to step in and give him more of the taxpayers' money, so that he can have more planes starting and landing at his airport at regular intervals, even though many of these planes would carry only a few passengers per flight.
More air traffic is good for our municipality's ski resorts, and therefore good for the whole region, argues Gunnar Lenman.
Maybe Gunnar Lenman has never heard of the climate crisis.
Maybe no one has told him that more flights will in the long term mean less money from tourism, since the winter seasons are already getting shorter due to global warming.
Or maybe Gunnar Lenman is just longing for hefty short-term profits.
One thing is clear: Scandinavian Mountains Airport and its CEO Gunnar Lenman deserve a climate warning. ⚠️

They should not have been building it in the first place. At the time when the project was executed there were massive protests, however not enough media attention or serious consideration taken. The country of Sweden in a nutshell if you like.

He should convert the airport to a high altitude museum so that the people there don't lose jobs and the people visiting still make the place thrive rather than losing 6 million euros every year. India needs airports probably an inter governmental discussion will help using the assets which has already spent the carbon print.

Mr. Lenman should recognize the importance of aligning their business strategies with the broader global sustainability agenda.

It's absurd, Lenman is the one who made wrong choices here, may he needs to be educated on climate crisis that the world is facing today and with that they would switch to electric planes which is environmental-friendly
