Despite the host of beneficial projects, pledges and deals that have been struck so far at COP26, such as deals to end deforestation, the phasing out of coal, and the promotion outside the COP of minority nations and their climate concerns, the burgeoning theme of the day is one of concern.
A deal designed to bring an end to new automobile emissions by 2040 has faced backlash and resistance from several big car companies, such as Volkswagen, BMW, and Toyota, while nuclear has been discussed as a potential solution to ensure the Net Zero goal of the UK are met.
Additionally, a Green Party Councillor has been "caught" flying into the COP to talk about green solutions, and Brazil faces backlash, both for their President's lack of presence at the COP, and for their resistance to pledge effectively to deforestation goals, despite being the home nation of the Amazon Rainforest, often described as the lungs of the planet.
There would inevitably be pitfalls and roadblocks amidst the collaboration of so many nation states, businesses, and organizations, but it's disheartening to see so many vital deals potentially falling through - and the lack of awareness some world leaders seem to have for how their actions negatively impact the message COP26 is trying to send.
Indeed, as a Guardian article highlighted today, we're set for a temperature increase of 2.4 degrees if significant climate action isn't taken. So it is frustrating to see so many world leaders dragging their heels with so much at stake!
We hope the fair criticism of these actions gives world leaders a pause for reflection, and to understand how their pledges, actions, and presences are vital to the success of the summit.

Deeply concerning that this whole thing at COP26 is not being Taken seriously enough by the delegates, many of whom are the very culprits in this situation!
