The Ministry is committed to working with stakeholders and development partners to fast-track the attainment of a clean and green transport system as a way of combating climate change.
Some of the measures we are undertaking include providing incentives and putting in place a policy framework that will support the ongoing shift from diesel and petrol engine buses to electric buses.
In so doing, we will create thousands of jobs at local assembly lines, charging stations, servicing centres and in day-to-day bus operations, reduce carbon emission, curb traffic congestion, and enhance efficiency, safety and reliability in public transport.
Held a meeting with a team from BasiGo, led by CEO Abhijit Bhattacharya at Ministry HQs this morning. The meeting was also attended by Super Metro Chairperson Nelson Mwangi&Citi Hoppa Chairperson Judy Thuo. I later flagged off BasiGo e-buses
