AN INFLUX OF MOTORISTS AT ALMOST ALL GAS STATIONS IN KENYA LEAVES ME WISHING IT WOULD OTHERWISE BE AN INFLUX AT E.V CHARGING STATIONS. While I was on a stroll today to do a spot check in a number of fuel outlets,I confirmed the news that there's an influx of motorists lining up to buy fuel whose scarcity has triggered snarl-ups at filling stations for two days now. The scramble for the product was evident at a Shell outlet in Thika town where a bare-knuckle almost ensued among boda boda (motorcycle) operators who had lined up to refill their fuel tanks. It's even frustrating for some motorists who are reporting of having stayed in the que for hours but still end up without the commodity since the demand has superceded the supply. A transition to green energy could be moving at a snail's pace given the dire need to decarbonize the transport sector but there's substantial progress. Despite Kenya lacking better charging infrastructure, the country's main electricity supplier-KPLC promised to speed up the installation process in the coming years and that would trigger an increase in the demand for electric cars. By the end of my stroll, all I got thinking was a great wish to see an influx of electric cars at charging points in the near future and not otherwise that of combustion engines at the gas stations.

I wish we could adapt to renewable energy sources as soon as possible because the dependence we have on fossil fuels will cripple out economies and be the cause of human extinction due to climate change
