Researchers create plastic that dissolves in water.

Northeastern University researchers have developed an innovative #bioplastic that breaks down in water, offering a #sustainable alternative to conventional #plastic. Called #MECHS, which stands for Mechanical Engineered Living Materials with Compostability, Healability and Scalability, this plastic is derived from engineered E. coli bacteria and a fiber matrix, creating a film-like material that biodegrades faster than other #biodegradable plastics.

Very impressive! It will offer a potential solution to the environmental harm caused by traditional plastic materials, and could help mitigate the impact on marine ecosystems.

That's amazing! If it’s safe for the environment and doesn’t harm ecosystems, it could revolutionize packaging and single-use products. I just hope it’s scalable and affordable so industries can adopt it quickly!

Thinking that I would one day toss a bottle in water and I do not pollute the environment- since its biodegradable, is absolutely mind blowing.

Who would have thought this was possible...this kind of invention could help us deal with the issue of Plastic pollution for good.

If water-soluble plastics are also biodegradable, they'll decompose into harmless substances, further minimizing their environmental impact.
