The Nordic Council of Ministers: Only climate-neutral new buildings from 2030
The Nordic Council of Ministers has agreed that only climate-neutral houses may be built within the EU from 2030.
In addition, the entire housing stock must be free of emissions by 2050. The Union's energy ministers also want to develop energy efficiency requirements for existing buildings and homes, writes ARD, Aftonbladet reports.
In order for the proposals to become a reality, it is required that the EU Parliament votes in favor. Whether that happens remains to be seen.
