Aims to produce one billion liters of Swedish renewable fuel
Almost half a percent of Sweden's heavy trucks are today electrified. For light trucks, the percentage is just over 2.5 percent. Even if the numbers are moving up, the development is not as fast as the electrification of passenger cars.
At the same time, a 70 percent reduction in emissions is required until 2030, compared to the reference year 2010, in order for the Swedish transport sector to be able to reduce emissions in accordance with the national target. This, in turn, means that efforts to increase the proportion of liquid renewable fuels are needed, states the Energy Agency, the Swedish Transport Agency and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, among others.
- An electric truck is approximately two to three times as expensive as a normal truck, which means that many haulage companies do not have the financial opportunity to replace the entire vehicle fleet at once. However, there is already the possibility for existing trucks to fill up with HVO100 and thereby contribute to reducing fossil climate emissions directly, says Magnus Heimburg, who is CEO of Preem.
