Pakistan has become the third-largest destination for China’s exports of solar energy equipment.
The country imported around 13 gigawatts of solar modules in the first half of 2024. According to a new report by BloombergNEF, Pakistan will add between 10 gigawatts and 15 gigawatts of solar this year, mostly in homes and factories, making Pakistan the sixth-largest market in the world.Â
One reason solar panels have become so popular is the rising power prices over the past few years. As a result, Pakistan's grid electricity use is now at its lowest in four years, writes Bloomberg News.
