Climate change and birds: new study reveals divergent impacts on Mediterranean species
Spanish researchers explore how extreme weather events affect bird breeding in wetlands

10/03/2024 - A recent study investigated how climate change is affecting the productivity of two species of passerines associated with wetlands on the Mediterranean coast. The results, published in the journal Bird Study, indicate that increasingly high temperatures and frequent torrential rains could jeopardize the conservation of these birds. The research is part of the doctoral thesis of Pau Lucio, associate professor at the Department of Animal Science at the Gandia Campus, carried out in collaboration with the Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Valencia.
