COP28 president urges countries to set plans for fossil fuel transition.

After intense talks in December of last year, nations decided to minimize the worst effects of climate change by moving away from fossil fuels in the UAE Consensus document of COP28. Nations now need to outline their plans for getting there.
President of the COP28 Sultan Al Jaber stated on Tuesday, "We must now turn an unprecedented agreement into unprecedented action and results."

This transition must prioritize supporting developing nations and ensuring a just and equitable shift for all.

He should start first with his own country, and should be a good example to others.

I think it's time we act on the already agreed deliberations on transitioning from fossil fuels. We cannot afford to lose more time as we are already steering at adverse climate change effects.

The Sultan seems to have seen the light just several months after he led quite a "sham" campaign at the COP28

My impression of Sultan Al Jaber is that he is one of the few individuals in the oil industry who genuinely wants to see change happen. At the same time, his own oil company is not doing enough. I think he has a very difficult job. He needs other oil-producing countries to start transitioning away; otherwise, he will not have the power to transform his own company. Other oil-producing countries will look at the UAE's national oil company, and if it doesn't start the transition, why should they? It is like a chicken-and-egg situation. I hope Sultan Al Jaber can navigate this and have enough influence to initiate the transition away from oil in his own company. It will not be easy.

There are very many agreements reached towards restoring the climate, what we need now is actions. Needless to say that the situation is getting out of hard.

By any means, we all have to talk about what kind of “Transition” that makes the difference in our society cuz the gasoline in general is the core foundation what we make living on.
