Cats 🐈 kill 1.85 billion birds 🕊 🦅 🦉 every year in the United States But there are no calls for cats to be banned Buildings 🏢 kill 675 million birds Vehicles 🚗 🚚 214 million birds We poison 72 million birds Wind turbines kill just 328,000 and #climatechange deniers want to ban them! One study estimated that wind farms and nuclear power stations are responsible each for 0.3 fatalities per gigawatt-hour (GWh) of electricity while fossil-fueled power stations are responsible for 5.2 fatalities per GWh. Also if you paint a single wind turbine blade black it could reduce bird fatalities by 72%, and it was most effective at reducing collision deaths for birds of prey, such as white-tailed eagles (Haliaeetus albicilla).

I think banning pets is a bad idea, simply because so many people care so much about them on an emotional level that the public fallout would be bad. We need to regulate cat ownership much like we do dog ownership to ensure that the risks of then hunting is minimal. Bell collars is a good start to make it much harder for them to catch birds.

1.8 billion! That's a crazy number. Cats shouldn't be left outside by themselves, they are predators and a danger for biodiversity

Great argument, great points! I love cats and used to have them but I've since vowed to not have any more when my last cat passed away, they are amazing animals but ruthless killers of anything bird or small mammal. Their numbers should be reduced through neutering and then stringent laws for keeping them. All pets including dogs should have stringent laws on keeping them.. dogs eat a lot of meat and defecate everywhere...I love my dog, she is a great friend but when she passes i won't get another..there are just too many pets.
