Amazon’s Sustainability Exchange

Amazon announced the launch of the Sustainability Exchange, a new platform offering free access to sustainability tools and resources used by the company to decarbonize its operations - particularly in its supply chain.

This is another big step that Amazon has taken to show its commitment towards net zero by 2040, following several other positive news: The Emissions drop, the Energy goal achieved early, and the replacement of the plastic pillows.

In a post announcing the launch of the new Sustainability Exchange, Amazon Chief Sustainability Officer Kara Hurst said:

“It’s taken thousands of engineers, researchers, and scientists, hundreds of thousands of hours, and billions of dollars to get to where we are today. We’ve learned a lot. We could keep those learnings to ourselves, but we know that achieving net-zero will require collective action from those that supply our operations. And we’re in a unique position to help drive significant global change.”

This new platform will help Amazon better work with its suppliers and speed up its value chain’s decarbonization. Hopefully, it will also speed up the transition of the general manufacturing industry globally.
