Climate warning

Australia's environment must be given legal priority over land clearing and logging to survive

Australia's natural environment is in crisis and protecting it must become the top priority in government policy and legislation says former Treasury chief Dr Ken Henry who is now chair of Australian Climate and Biodiversity Foundation said government do not give enough attention to the causes of environmental destruction and have policy and management could be changed to turn thing round. He said the laws were failing and were likely to never succeed unless they were overhauled to give nature protection primacy over development, logging, mining and urban expansion
