The environmental footprint of biofuel, electricity or hydrogen cars is better than fossil-fuel based cars

Climate change is currently partly caused by the transport sector, as it uses a lot of fossil fuels for diesel and gasoline: burning these fuels is responsible for up to a quarter of the total globally emitted CO2 emissions.

To find more environmentally friendly alternatives to cars based on fossil fuels, it is important to compare and understand how these alternatives impact our environment. 

Alternatives include biofuel, electricity, and hydrogen, which can be replenished within a relatively short period. The number of cars powered by these alternatives is rising, but still less than 0.5% of the 1.2 billion cars on our planet. 

In this article, I compare the environmental footprint of these alternatives by looking at their land, carbon, and water footprints:

Biofuel, electricity, and hydrogen cars are all excellent alternatives to fossil-fuel based cars as they have much lower emissions of harmful greenhouse gases and pollutants. Moreover, they are all renewable sources of energy, meaning they are sustainable and more environmentally friendly than traditional fossil fuels.
