Separate food bins for England in new Recycling Reforms

The long-awaited plans to reform recycling in England have been announced by the government. Going forward most households will have a weekly food waste collection by early 2026 and there will now be a standardised list of items that councils must recycle. The government says the new rules are designed to make the recycling process simpler and to avoid people needing what it termed an "excessive number of bins." https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-67176392

Initiating such projects ensures we correctly identify waste meant to be recycled and that meant for disposal. Clearly a very good move

Recycling saves energy, helps keep materials out of landfills and incinerators, and provides raw materials for the production of new products.

It would be easier to know what is recyclable and what is not by sorting waste before they are collected.

@rosebellendiritu Definitely, waste not sorted at the source is difficult to recycle.

@rosebellendiritu it is admirable. Some other countries too are using the sorting process like New Jersey. So you have two bins in your home one for disposable waste and the other for recycling.
