Pixel Planet Today's post

Hey there! We're super excited to be officially partnering with World Rainforest Day! The big day comes June 22nd (The World Rainforest Day Summit is June 21st & 22nd, registration is free 😁), so to highlight the upcoming day, let's talk about these rainforests! . Astoundingly, rainforests cover only 2% of Earth's surface, yet they’re home to an astounding 50% of the planet's biodiversity! The Amazon Basin alone is a sanctuary to over 116,000 species. Besides the animals and critters that call these ecosystems home, rainforest biodiversity is the source of many things we use daily, like coffee and medicine. . However, these ecosystems and their inhabitants are at risk. Since 1970, we’ve lost a staggering 69% of vertebrate species worldwide. This is an irreversible loss, but there is still time to safeguard what remains. Together, we can ensure these ecosystems and those that call it home can thrive for centuries to come. . . There is a need to highlight the ransacking of rainforests to mine precious metals used in the production of EVs and Mobile devices. The bigger the EV the bigger the battery and more precious minerals used.. in order to stay green we should be consuming less, reusing more and using public transport wherever possible.

@lucinda_ramsay public transportation is greatly under-appreciated! I sincerely wish more public transportation was available/supported/funded in the United States
