The initiative, founded on the principle that women play a crucial role in addressing the climate crisis, aims to provide financial resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities to empower women change-makers worldwide. Daughters for Earth recognises the unique perspectives, innovative approaches, and transformative leadership that women bring to environmental sustainability. The selected projects cover a large range of climate solutions, including renewable energy initiatives, sustainable agriculture practices, community-based conservation efforts, and climate education programs.
Here are 3 of the 43 projects:
Empowering Zapotec Communities to Protect Ancestral Seed Diversity: Mi Oaxaca is undertaking a cultural preservation project in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca, Mexico, to empower Zapotec communities and protect ancestral seed diversity. The project focuses on preserving traditional mezcal-making practices, which involve cultivating multiple species of Agave and processing them naturally.
Restoring Food Security and Resilience to Ugandan Refugees With Permagardens: African Women Rising (AWR) is empowering women and children in Uganda's Acholi region, home to nearly 80,000 South Sudanese refugees, through ecological agricultural training. The "permagarden" methodology uses regenerative techniques like rainwater harvesting and soil enrichment, AWR quickly increases food production, reduces land degradation, and fosters climate resilience.
Healing the Earth By Restoring Indigenous Land in California: The Landback Program is a transformative initiative that empowers California Native communities to reclaim their rightful roles as stewards of the land and champions of ecological restoration.
These are a few of many wonderful women-led initiatives that the Daughters of Earth is supporting with its work.
Check them out and be part of the Daughterhood! 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

A praiseworthy initiative. All 3 out of 43 initiatives are good and it is expected that rest of the 40 projects also follow same standard. It would have been great to know about the criterion for selection of this project by a greater audience for inclusion of more and more daughters in similar ventures.

@felix_mokaya A while back women were not given the opportunity to participate in issues like climate change. No support what so ever.Wangari Mathai gave us confidence and affirmations that women too could lead and achieve greatness.

If these are just three of the initiatives, I cant wait to hear of the other forty. They must have such a positive impact on the communities they target and the environment as a whole.
