Depletion of trees increase the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This leads to increase in the temperature of the earth's surface. The increase in the temperature of the earth disturbs the water cycle and this can lead to decrease in the rainfall.
Trees absorb and store carbon dioxide. If forests are cleared, or even disturbed, they release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Forest loss and damage is the cause of around 10% of global warming. There's simply no way we can fight the climate crisis if we don't stop deforestation.

      The importance of trees in the reduction of C02 was something we all learnt since we were small kids. How such destruction of forests and on such scales is still going on beats me.....
