This is a serious matter and needs to be addressed pronto. A grave concern over Pemex’s ongoing struggle to control methane emissions, a crisis that undermines Mexico’s commitment to net-zero goals and jeopardizes the nation’s future. Methane, a greenhouse gas 80 times more potent than CO2 over 20 years, is a critical driver of climate change. Pemex’s failure to address these emissions not only damages Mexico’s credibility on the global stage but also endangers the health and livelihoods of millions of Mexicans.
The recent reports highlight Pemex’s inadequate infrastructure, lack of transparency, and insufficient investment in emission control technologies. This negligence is unacceptable. Every ton of methane released accelerates global warming, increases extreme weather events, droughts, and rising sea levels that disproportionately affect vulnerable communities.
Mexico could turn a leaf by getting this under control and becoming the new beacon of green hope in the Americas now that the United States has fallen to a maniac.
I'd like to encourage the mexican government, people, president and elected representatives to act before this damage damages what's left of their country.

Methane poses huge environmental risks, including impacting air quality and climate change. Mexico should put measures in place to reduce emissions for sustainable future.

But why is Mexico's government not taking any legal action against them? Unfortunately this is what will continue to happen of we elect climate deniers!

This is very serious something need to be done, they need to utilize 60 hydroelectric power plants which generate 12% of the country's electricity This is the danger: Mexico heavily relies on fossil fuels, with natural gas being the dominant source, while the country has significant potential for renewable energy but faces challenges in transitioning due to policy complexities and reliance on the state-owned oil company Pemex; 77%fossil 23%clean source solar and wind. They need to implement more policies that are favorable for private investment on clean energy and promote energy efficiency on clean energy . This urgent for mexico.
