I feel like the biggest thing missing in the voluntary carbon offset market is the transparency in the verification. I could always find a tremendous amount of information regarding the project plan, the local environment, regulations, and a robust methodology and how it would be implemented. However, when one looks for evidence that the plan was actually implemented you rely on a third party verification firm which does not provide any auditable evidence for a buyer.
Am I missing something here? Please provide me with some examples. Thanks!
