📈 This is one of many questions the Energy Transitions Commission asks in its latest COP-focussed report, “Degree of Urgency: Accelerating Action to Keep 1.5°C on the Table.” It finds that, while there has been much to celebrate, more action is needed. Indeed #COP27 needs to go further, especially as each 0.1°C rise above 1.5°C will have catastrophic consequences. Other findings centre on closing the three gaps: 🚀 Ambition: more ambitious country targets need to be made, with strengthened NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions) 🛠 Implementation: via targeted policies and company actions to drive further real-world progress 💸 Financing: especially to support middle and low-income countries to peak and reduce GHG, $300Bn USD per annum are needed In short, we must push forward. Central to this is the #energytransition, which we’re proud to celebrate and work towards.
