UK is in treat of being left behind in the global race to decarbonise the economy, with potentially disastrous consequences for jobs and communities according to the TUC general secretary . Paul Nowak said in an interview UK was limping towards a greenish future and calls for national corporate effort involving employers, workers and the government to ensure speedy and fair transition to a net zero economy. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jun/16/uk-lagging-behind-in-global-race-to-decarbonise-says-tuc-leader

I know this was posted a month ago, but it's even more concerning now, knowing that both Labour and Tories are back tracking on the little policy they have left.

This can include supportive regulations, financial incentives, and targeted investments in research and development.

The blame lies squarely on UK's leadership. The current as well as the former regimes have openly exuded disregard for climate action and that's the root cause for the derailed reforms.

@joyce_waturu_nyakweya this is mostly true, the leadership has been poor but also our media has done too much to spread misinformation about the climate. There's so much need for change!
It's a shame to see that a country like the UK is lagging behind

The UK government should be the first people to reject decarbonisation but its opposite to what we expect from them

Propaganda and lies may be playing a part.
I recently heard from a local councillor in Scotland that battery electric vehicles did not have much of a future and it would all be hydrogen soon .
As this is the opposite of everything I've read and heard for the past decade, I have to suspect this is part of a fossil fuel industry campaign to save themselves from extinction.
If they succeed in making grey hydrogen the core of transport or heating fuel, it will not be just their industry that faces extinction.
Same in the USA! The fossil fuels industries including pipelines and drilling rig makers, electric utility companies, vehicle manufacturers and roadway-builders - ALL are putting a big drag on efforts to de-carbonize. We hav to push forward the best solutions and R&D for even better and SELL the better world without a carbon-based economy. We have to create and promote the decarbonized examples to show that we won’t be left “freezing or cooking ourselves alone in the dark”without fossil fuels. People need to SEE, TOUCH and SMELL the difference. Then we will also HEAR the difference as the sounds of nature return to our world.
