The Climate 100 List of 2024, created by The Independent, celebrates the inspiring efforts of 100 individuals dedicated to addressing climate change across various fields. From political leaders to activists and authors, these changemakers are leading the charge for a sustainable future.
Among these champions, I want to shine a spotlight on Lewis Pugh, a great ambassador of We Don't Have Time and a true Ocean Warrior. As the UN Patron of the Oceans, Pugh’s daring swims in critical marine ecosystems like the Arctic and Antarctic highlight the immediate threat climate change poses to our oceans. His relentless advocacy and symbolic endurance swims call the world to action, inspiring a global movement for ocean conservation and climate resilience.
I still commend Jane Fonda with her unwavering activism, that continues to inspire global climate protests who has been featured severally in We Don't Have Time broadcasts and she is always vocal and passionate emphasising to us to do the right thing.
Someone else among the standout figure is Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, whose innovative Bridgetown Initiative advocates for global financial reforms to support vulnerable nations facing climate crises. Her leadership reminds us that addressing climate change requires systemic change at the highest levels.
Similarly, Wawa Gatheru, a Kenya-usa citizen and a founder of Black Girl Environmentalist, amplifies marginalized voices in the climate movement, promoting inclusive, intersectional action for the planet.
John Vaillant, through his work on wildfires, underscores the urgency of our fight against climate change, revealing the devastating impacts of extreme weather events on people and nature. Among other notable names in the list is Usa Former vice President Algore, Current Kenya President Ruto, Antonio Guteres, bill gates and many other notable names in world.
Together, these list represent the diversity and creativity needed to tackle climate challenges and their tireless efforts are a reminder that everyone, in their unique way, can contribute to building a more sustainable and just future. Let's continue advocating for more actions and together collectively we can do a lot as we don't have time to wait.
