Nike's sustainable collection is just greenwashing

Last week, a complaint against Nike was filed in US federal court, alleging that the company “falsely and misleadingly markets” products as sustainable and environmentally friendly.
According to the lawsuit, out of the 2,452 products Nike listed in its sustainability collection, “only 239 products are actually made with any recycled materials,” or about 10%. Some of the products are even predominantly made with virgin plastic-based materials! This means that Nike is directly fooling consumers, who sometimes even pay more for these "eco-friendly" products.
We really need more regulations and laws to prevent companies from greenwashing, because we simply don't have time for that.

It's a deceitful method to gain favour with consumers who choose to support businesses that care about bettering the planet.

The use of predominantly virgin plastic-based materials in some products contradicts the eco-friendly image that Nike portrays.

Only 10% of the sample selected was from recycling ? So absurd to see such reputable brand company mislead consumers, nike products should be boycotted.

It's very wrong to mislead consumers, more regulations are required to prevent greenwashing!

Greenwashing has disastrous effects on the environment because consumers are more likely to unknowingly buy a product or service that is highly polluting, being unaware of its terrible environmental impacts as they think they are supporting a green company.

This is to be expected, honestly. "Green" image is a big part of PR, and companies try to exploit it. And I don't think big clothing companies have ever been known for their honesty, integrity or overall moral character.

That's misleading the consumers too coz when you are ready to pay more for an eco-friendly product only to realise it was a fake
