Scotland gives green light for 1.5 GW of battery storage

The Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit approved two large BESS projects by Alcemi and CIP in Coalburn and Fife. These projects aim to support the grid, integrate renewable energy, and enhance stability. Construction is expected to begin soon after CIP's final investment decision.
The approval of these BESS projects demonstrates a positive step towards enhancing renewable energy integration and grid stability in Scotland. By supporting the transmission system and addressing network constraints, these projects play a crucial role in advancing sustainable energy practices.
