THE EFFECTS OF PLASTICS DUMPED IN OCEANS - WORLD OCEAN DAY
Being World Ocean Day Al Jazeera takes a great responsibility as the media to explain how plastics are dumped into the oceans, in what capacity and their effects to marine life and to the climate in general.
In the article by By Mohammed Hussein and Marium Ali they say that most plastics that get into the ocean come from bad waste disposal systems, citing that plastics comprises 80% of all marine pollution.
They also cite that according to UNESCO, 8-10 million tonnes of plastic are released into the sea every year.
In relation to this World Environmental day theme on beat plastics pollution they go ahead to explain the effects of plastics on marine life.
