JUST AN OTHER TIPPING POINT?
In the next 5 years we are likely to witness 1,5°C, according to World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
That does not mean we will be crossing the long-term warming threshold of 1.5 C already, which has been identified by the UN IPCC Intergovernmental Panel on #ClimateChange as a key tipping point beyond which the risk of extreme drought, wildfires, floods and food shortages will increase dramatically.
But we will get to know what a world of extrem global warming looks like. Accelerated by additional 9 tipping points, nature, climate and biodiversity as we know it will be heavily effected and destroyed step by step - irreversible. Those are:
1. Amazon rainforest
2. Arctic sea ice
3. Atlantic circulation
4. Boreal forests
5. Coral reefs
6. Greenland ice sheet
7. Permafrost
8. West Antarctic ice sheet
9. Part of East Antarctica
What strikes the most, we do not act accordingly. Even if current national pledges to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions are implemented — and that’s a big ‘if’ — we are likely to result in at least 3 °C of global warming until the end of the century.
We have now the chance to take climate relevant decisions and act meaningful. The Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) gGmbH #Carbon Clock shows how much #CO2 can be released into the atmosphere to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5°C: 7 years.
We are very much looking forward to ClimateSummit.de 2022, sharing challenges and best practices of how to decarbonise economy - companies and their global supply chains. Join us, we can act now!

We cannot take the risk to reach another tipping point: we need to act now, we don't have time
And together we've planted over 150,000 trees. One tree is planted for every climate review written to an organization that is Open for Climate Dialogue™.
How does this work?
The Climate Action App
We plant a tree for every new user
Welcome, let's solve the climate crisis together
Write or agree to climate reviews to make businesses and world leaders act. It’s easy and it works.
