The World Bank must become bolder In order to secure the future of our planet, institutions such as the World Bank and IMF should invest more in climate protection and sustainability, demand Mia Amor Mottley and Svenja Schulze. Both politicians represent their country at the World Bank as governor. We have to face an uncomfortable truth - and we have to act. The impact of human activity on our planet poses a threat to livelihoods and threatens to destroy decades of human development progress. Structural changes are needed to ensure the survival and prosperity of humanity and the planet. Declining fish stocks, thawing permafrost, rising antibiotic resistance and the loss of tropical rainforest are just a few examples of how we are eroding the very foundations of our development. While acute catastrophes usually attract the most attention, the gradual depletion of precious natural resources does not make the headlines. In the process, it has become a chronic burden for the world's poorest. The destruction of our natural livelihoods deepens global economic inequality and social exclusion. It undermines the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development principle of leaving no one behind. https://app.handelsblatt.com/meinung/gastbeitraege/gastkommentar-die-weltbank-muss-mutiger-werden-/28987698.html

I completely agree with Mia Amor Mottley and Svenja Schulze that the World Bank and IMF should invest more in climate protection and sustainability.

What could be more obvious for a bank with that name?
