ENCOURAGING GOVERNORS' SPOUSES TO PLANT TREES DURING BREAKFAST SESSION AT STATE HOUSE NAIROBI
Friday morning, at State House in Nairobi, President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto held a brunch for the first ladies of neighboring counties. The gathering reaffirmed the first ladies' vital role in the betterment of their respective communities. Rachel Ruto, the First Lady of Kenya, recently gathered the other first women together and invited them to brainstorm ways to help their husbands, the Governors, and their respective administrations.
She encouraged them to take the initiative in their counties to promote financial literacy among women through table banking, with the help of Joyful Women Organization's County-based Economic Empowerment Officers, and to adopt a forest as part of the Office of the First Lady's goal to plant 500 million trees. She also suggested a food exchange program, in which the first spouses of counties that had surplus food would help other counties that are experiencing a food shortage.
