COP29 in Baku is up & running! And yesterday, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a new national target: reducing emissions by 81% by 2035. This target is based on recommendations from the UK’s Climate Change Committee and surpasses the previous commitment of a 78% reduction and aligns with the Paris Agreement's goal to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
To the accusation that the new policy will dictate lifestyle changes, Starmer answered that it aims to secure the UK’s future economic and energy stability. Starmer also committed to extending the UK’s £11.6 billion climate finance fund until 2026 and announced a £1 billion investment in a wind project in Hull, projected to create 1,300 jobs. Win win for the economy and the community!
Great job UK! Let's hope for more similar announcements from other countries in the upcoming weeks!

This is bold from the UK seeing as they have been very adamant with their climate goals in the previous Sunak-led administration. It looks like Starmer is the man for the job. Kudos!
