Flour and oats fuel biohybrid reforestation robot.

Researchers at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT-Italian Institute of Technology) in collaboration with the University of Freiburg have developed a #biohybridrobot, which consists of a flour-based capsule created using 3D microfabrication techniques, and two natural appendages from oat fruit capable of moving in response to air humidity. Named HybriBot, this new device can accommodate natural seeds from different #plants, serving as a #biodegradable vector for #reforestation. Read more:

          @george_kariuki I see that as it's most important aspect, that it uses sustainable materials in it's plight to regrow our forests. Sometimes we may use unsustainable tech in chasing sustainability goals which is ironic and I'm glad they got past that hurdle.

          I have to say that robotics has really come a long way. Now we can disperse seeds using a biohybrid robot made from biodegradable material. Wonderful.....just wonderful.
