"I think back to the wishes I presented to you at the same time a year ago [...]. Who could have predicted [...] the climate crisis with spectacular effects still this summer in our country?", asked French President Emmanuel Macron during his traditional wishes to the French on December 31, 2022.
Yes, sure. Who could have predicted the climate crisis and its effects? There really aren't any reports, scientific studies, or international meetings that could have given us clues about that... (This is of course ironic, the first IPCC report dates back to 1990).
It is time to stop pretending and ignoring the reality of climate change and to start acting. Now!
